Nairobi Kenya: Kenya Airways will start direct flights to Blantyre, making it the
second city in Malawi that the national carrier flies into.
This comes
about a month after the collapse of Air Malawi. Kenya Airways will have
three flights a week from 2nd August to Blantyre, Malawi’s second
largest city, which also doubles up as its commercial capital, following
an approval from the Malawi Government.
The national carrier has become
a key beneficiary of Air Malawi’s collapse and will connect passengers
between Zambia’s capital, Lusaka, and Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi.
Kenya Airways boss Titus Naikuni said the new route is designed to open up the African continent to trade and development.
